MARK’S MAYHEM AT THE 4-H DELIVERS RECORD-BREAKING CROWD AND BIGGEST SHOW IN EVENT HISTORY

What a night.

Mark’s Mayhem at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center — formerly known as June Boom — delivered a record-breaking turnout Friday night with the grandstands packed, parking lots overflowing, and viewing areas completely full.

And yes…going forward, it will officially stay in MAY.

Thousands gathered to experience one of the largest fireworks demo events in the Midwest, featuring products from The Really Good Stuff Brand Fireworks (RGS), including the notorious Black Widow shell line that helped revolutionize the consumer fireworks industry. (See linked story: “The History of the Black Widow Shell — The Canister That Changed the Industry.”)

This year’s event also helped kick off the upcoming 250th Anniversary celebration of the United States, with several patriotic-themed fireworks specifically designed for America’s semiquincentennial celebration.

Red, white, and blue effects filled the sky throughout the evening while crowd favorites like Founder’s Finale and several “250 Shot” themed items reminded spectators exactly why fireworks have always been part of America’s celebration tradition.

Families filled the grounds early, food trucks had a tremendous turnout, and spectators were able to vote live on many of the featured fireworks throughout the evening.

The night built toward what was promoted as “the best finale show in the 26-year history of the event” — and according to the crowd reaction, it absolutely delivered.

The entire production was fired by a two-man crew consisting of Kobe Hisle and Randy Kessler, with Kessler choreographing the show. The display featured three separate shows — each with its own massive finale — and somehow each finale topped the one before it. (See linked story: “The Men Behind the Show — Randy Kessler & Kobe Hisle.”)

One of the biggest goals of Mark’s Mayhem has always been to show customers what they can realistically accomplish in their own backyard using consumer fireworks available at Mark’s Fireworks.

No expensive electronic firing systems.
No massive production crews.

Just properly planned fireworks, safely secured and laid out in the correct order.

Many of the fireworks during the demo were staked and secured to prevent tipping — proving that safe, professional-looking backyard shows can be built without complicated equipment. (See linked story: “How To Build Your Own Backyard Fireworks Show — Safely and Without Fancy Equipment.”)

Every Mark’s Fireworks team member is trained to help customers build custom fireworks shows for nearly any budget — from simple backyard celebrations to church events, neighborhood gatherings, graduations, lake parties, and large finales.

Customers are often encouraged to build their show with a beginning, middle, and one huge finale ending — with products numbered and organized for easy setup and firing.

Many neighborhoods now combine budgets together to create larger community-style shows while taking advantage of early bird specials and volume discounts well before July 3rd and 4th.

The event also showcased the quality and consistency the RGS brand has become known for nationwide — with a heavy focus on vibrant colors, symmetrical breaks, consistent height, and unique effects developed over years of factory relationships and product refinement.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this year’s Mark’s Mayhem the biggest in event history.
